Tips for Recruitment
|

|
|
|
|
- Go into the process with an open mind and good attitude.
Discuss your feelings about a sorority or a certain event privately with your Panhellenic Counselor (Pi Chi).
- The Rules of Respect are in place to protect your rights and your opinions.
Be realistic about which sorority members you are most comfortable with.
- Academics are very important to all chapters. The average GPA for sorority women is above a 3.4. Ask about study halls, test files, and tutoring within the group.
- Financial information will be given out during third round. Many have payment plans and will be glad to work with you.
- Take notes after events so that you can go back and look at them later on.
- Ask questions. This shows interest and you might find out things that interest you even more.
- Look at each sorority as a whole. Do not judge a group based on one member.
- Sorority members are just as nervous as you are. If you go to the wrong event by mistake or any conflicts occur, find a Pi Chi and don’t let yourself get upset. The Pi Chi’s are trained to fix almost any situation.
- Recruitment is a mutual selection process-you are selecting a sorority, and they, as a group, are selecting you.
- Finally, be yourself and get plenty of sleep.
Recruitment Rules
Please read these carefully. The Recruitment Rules are made to support the potential member, and we ask that you assist the recruitment process by complying with them.
- Formal Recruitment for the Panhellenic Council will be held during fall semester only.
- Pi Chi’s (Panhellenic Counselors) will be available at any time during recruitment for any potential member who has questions. Any potential member considering dropping out of recruitment should talk with a Pi Chi or a Panhellenic Executive Board member before making her decision.
- A potential member who fails to attend a sorority’s event without a valid reason, (such as class conflict) and without prior notification of her Pi Chi, will automatically be dropped from recruitment.
- Any woman who accepts a bid from a Panhellenic Organization at the conclusion of the formal recruitment process will be ineligible to accept a bid from another organization for one calendar year.
- During the formal recruitment process, sorority members and alumnae members may not discuss anything regarding recruitment with potential members.
- Only attend the events you are invited back to and follow the event schedule you are given. If you have class or emergency conflicts contact your Pi Chi to fix the problem
Finances
Sororities are self-supported through the collection of dues,a new membership fee and an initiation fee from each member.
Each sorority has different financial policies and procedures. Therefore, it is difficult to give an accurate overall impression of the exact expenses involved. When considering what sorority to join, a potential member should ask about the billing process and the amount of dues and fees per organization. This information will be presented by each chapter during the third round of scheduled recruitment events.
