Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Recruitment only for Freshmen?
No. Sophomores and juniors, both continuing and transferring, are welcome to participate.

2. Do I have to register to participate?
Yes. On this web site you will find instructions as well as the Registration Form. You must complete all steps for registration. The "early bird" registration fee is $90, and is due Friday, July 24, 2009. After that date, there will be an additional $35 late fee added to your registration. The final deadline for registration is TUESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2009. After this date, no more registrations will be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS!

3. Do I have to send transcripts in order to register?

4. What is a recommendation?
It is a reference letter written on your behalf by a member or alumnae of a Panhellenic organization.

5. Do I need to find someone to write a recommendation for me?
No. This is not your responsibility and should not be a worry for you or your family! If someone offers to write a recommendation for you, say yes. This is a wonderful way for those women to continue to support their sorority. If they do not know where to send it, give them the instructions under the "Recommendations" link on this website.

6. Am I required to include a photo of myself?
No. This is optional. When pictures are sent, the individual sororities use them in order to put a face with a name before and after events. If you choose, you may scan a picture when you register.

7. What should I expect in a recruitment event?
Sorority members will engage in conversation with you to get to know you and to tell you about their group. Just relax and be yourself! Don’t be afraid to ask questions such as “What is your favorite part of sorority life?” Be sure to meet several members of the sorority so that you get a good idea of the diversity the group offers.

8. What should I take to a recruitment event?
You will be walking around campus, so travel light! A pair of comfortable walking shoes, an umbrella and a snack are just a few things to carry with you. You do not need a purse or camera. You may want to take a small note pad so that you can make notes after each party. This may help you remember each sorority when it comes time to make a decision.

9. What if I choose not to join a sorority?
There are many other opportunities to get involved at Clemson. We still encourage you to participate in recruitment as a way to get to know more women. Plus, you can always participate in recruitment next year if you change your mind. Remember, don't ever be afraid to ask your Pi Chi anything. They are there for you.

Most importantly, keep an open mind and have fun!
