Kelly Clarkson Launches "The Breakaway Tour"
May 3, 2005
CLEMSON - With two consecutive smash hits at Mainstream Top 40 radio and a second platinum album that has already sold over 1.4 million copies, Kelly Clarkson will launch her first solo headline tour on March 30 that will take her to 34 cities in the United States and Canada including a stop at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson South Carolina. Littlejohn Coliseum is the only arena date on the 34 city tour.
"It is significant that Littlejohn was selected, we have a chance to have the biggest indoor Clarkson date on the tour and we are pumped about that." Marty Kern, director of major events for Clemson University said. "There is a lot of enthusiasm surrounding this tour and we want Kelly's fans to have an incredible experience."
“Nothing makes me happier than being out on the road,” says Clarkson. “I can’t wait to see the fans and perform the new material. Playing in these venues will be a great opportunity for me to connect with my die-hard fans in an intimate setting. I’m really excited and I know it’s going to be awesome.”
“Breakaway” went to No. 1 at Mainstream Top 40 radio. The song is now No. 2 on the Adult Contemporary chart and No. 3 on the Adult Top 40 list. The follow-up, “Since U Been Gone,” stands at No. 3 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart and is still increasing in airplay. Both hits are included on Clarkson’s second album, “Breakaway.”
Tickets go on sale to students, faculty and staff with a Clemson ID Friday and to the general public Saturday at the Littlejohn Coliseum box office, TicketMaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Floor and riser seats are $35, and bowl seats are $25; all tickets are discounted $5 for Clemson students, faculty and staff.
