On November 18th Death Cab For Cutie will make their South Carolina debut at Littlejohn Coliseum along with Ted Leo + Pharmacists. Both bands have been on the southeast circuit for the past year and will be making a stop at Clemson University as a part of Death Cab For Cutie’s third and final North American tour to support their album Plans. The Clemson show is one of only three University stops on this tour and will be the only South Carolina play.

It’s not surprising that colleges are excited about Death Cab For Cutie; the band formed in a sleepy college town of Bellingham, WA in 1998 and has always had a fan base in the college demographic. But it’s not just college students that are asking for bands like Death Cab and Ted Leo. Both bands draw an eclectic audience of 20 to 40 something’s who have an ear for Indie rock, music that’s not normally found on the Top 40 stations.

“It’s exciting for us to be able to bring a band to Clemson that students have been requesting on the Virtual Request Line for over a year,” says Kelly McCracken, Director of TigerPaw Productions. The band has already released five albums, first on Barsuk and now on Atlantic Records. Their latest album Plans was their Atlantic Records debut and received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 2005. Earlier this year, Death Cab released “DIRECTIONS,” a DVD anthology of films inspired by every song on Plans.

The opening band, Ted Leo + Pharmacists hail from Washington DC. Formed in 1999 by Ted Leo, the band has released four albums and numerous EPs. Singer/songwriter Ted Leo is known for his meaningful lyrics and has created a loyal following from fans and critics alike.

“Littlejohn Coliseum is responding to the call to produce more diverse concert events and we consider getting a date with Death Cab For Cutie to be a win for indie rock fans in this market,” Marty Kern, General Manager of Littlejohn Coliseum said.
